STAFF, parents, governors and pupils at Addingham Primary School are delighted that the disruption caused by Bradford's schools reorganisation has not upset the high standards.

The schools latest Ofsted report praises the school where 'pupils make good progress because teaching is good'.

Within eight weeks of moving to the site of the former Middle School, on Bolton Road, Addingham Primary School underwent a stringent inspection by Ofsted officials and received a glowing report published this week.

The school is described in the report at 'an effective and improving school, which develops pupils' academic and social skills well'.

Pupils at the school achieve standards above average in English and science and well above average in mathematics as well as developing good relationships between teachers and pupils.

It also says that Addingham Primary School provides very good opportunities for pupils to develop moral and social awareness, with pupils enjoying both work and play.

According to the report, one of the pupils told an inspector: "I love this school."

Head teacher Jane Drake said: "I am very pleased with the results of the inspection. They reflect he continuing commitment and hard work of all the staff and of everyone associated with the school.

"The report commented favourably on the school's strong links with the local community and its very good partnership with parents."

Since the school's last inspection, as Addingham First School, in January 1997, there has been a great improvement in the quality of teaching and learning.

The report also notes wise investment over this period in provision for information and communication technology.

The report says: "Overall, the school has made considerable improvements in all areas since the earlier inspection and is in a strong position to continue to move forward."

Mrs Drake has been head teacher for three years.

Chairman of the governors Jenny Howarth said: "The Ofsted inspection has been a positive experience for the school overall. We needed to take stock of our achievements so far and to identify our priorities for the future. The report has confirmed our confidence in the quality of education offered to children at Addingham Primary School and has helped us to identify ways in which this could be improved still further."
