CUP competitions may still not be completed despite a number of games being played last weekend.

"Whether they will be completed remains in the lap of the gods after the terrible weather, and other disasters, which have threatened local football throughout the season," said league secretary Peter marsden.

Oxenhope Recreation had a home tie against Grassington United in the Premier Division Cup which developed into a closely fought contest. Both sides played good football in a lively opening half. Grassington were first to score by Oxenhope fought back well to equalise before half time with a goal from Ben White.

The second half saw Oxenhope begin to get on top, but the important next goal looked as if it would never come after several near misses. Eventually a splendid cross by Murray was headed smartly home by Simon Knaggs.

Though Grassington fought to get back in the match Oxenhope held out for the win and a meeting with Skipton Bulldogs in the next round.

Cross Hills took a step nearer the final with a 3-0 victory over Keighley Lifts. Flowing football was out of the question on a heavy pitch but both teams tried hard with Hills creating the better chances. Excellent saves by Heath Maddocks in the Lifts goal kept them at bay.

Lifts played some neat football without really troubling the defence and pressure eventually took its toll when Harry Peacock forced the ball home for Cross Hills. A brilliant save by Maddocks gave Hills a corner and Peacock was there again to head home his second goal.

Nicholas Shaw made it 3-0 before the break with a thundering shot after a great solo run. Lifts created more in the second half but were unable to turn the pressure into goals.

Keighley Lifts reserves travelled to Barnoldswick United in the Division One Cup and conceded a goal in the first minute. The rest of the half was even with both sides creating chances without being able to score.

A repeat goal at the start of the second half put Barnoldswick in a strong position but Lifts raised theirgame and pulled a goal back through Tony Cooper. They pushed forward for the equaliser by could not find a way through the defence and conceded a late goal which ended their cup hopes.

Silsden Athletic made progress in the Division Two Cup with a 3-2 home victory over Grindleton Reserves. The Ribble Valley side started the better and scored from a corner but Silsden stuck to their task and began to link passes together and equalised through Shaun Whittaker.

Silsden took command after the break with some good flowing football and a Chris Fowler ball put them ahead. Whittaker scored his second goal and although Grindleton kept battling and pulled a goal back it was too late. The Cobbydalers now face Oxenhope Reserves in a home match.

Cowling Reserves visited Skipton LMS Reserves in a first round tie and struggled to get going in very heavy conditions. Skipton took a 3-0 lead before Cowling came out of their shell and started to play excellent football, but could still not score.

They conceded two sloppy goals after the break that put the game beyond them, but to their credit they fought on. A 30-yard screamer from Peter Wearmouth opened their account and Alastair McEwan beat the keeper with an exquisite lob. Graham Rishton narrowed the gap to two goals and briefly it looked as if they could be back in the game. The South Craven side then committed suicide by gifting LMS two more goals and a comfortable passage into the next round.

Bronte Wanderers met Embsay Reserves at Marley with the Craven side taking advantage of a strong wind at the backs in the first half. They created a string of chances but could not put the ball in the back of the net.

Bronte were satisfied with a blank score sheet at the break and came out with new determination. Neil Rollins scored with a delightful chip after five minutes and further goals from David Collier and Rollins extended Bronte's lead at the top.

Sutton began at a hectic pace when they visited Cowling but the home side gradually began to get on top. James Anson latched onto a through ball to open the scoring and a good pass out of defence from Stuart Sugden set up Mark Ferguson who also added a third after the break from the penalty spot. Sutton had no answer to Cowling's speed and further goals came from Anson, Martin Dalby, Lee Complin and Kelly Anderson.

Bronte Wanderers Reserves closed the gap on Division Two leaders Lothersdale Athletic after a 3-1 victory. It was a much closer game than the scoreline suggests and both teams had periods on top in a goalless first half.

Bronte broke the deadlock early in the second period with a goal from Rye bailey. Lothersdale equalised midway through the half and a both sides threw caution to the wind in their search for a winner substitute James Rowell restored Bronte's lead. In the closing minutes Lee Billborough made the points safe with a third goal.
