BRITISH WATERWAYS has lifted Foot & Mouth restrictions on some sections of the Leeds and Liverpool canal, allowing people to walk on the towpath and anglers will also be able to take up their sport again.
Following negotiations with MAFF, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, they have lifted restrictions on sections within built-up areas.
The movement of boats continues to be restricted but towpaths have been opened at Barden Lane, Burnley, from Brierfield to Barrowford, at Skipton, Silsden and from Leach's Bridge (196) in Keighley to the Five Rise Locks. Club restrictions may still be in force, but the Marsden Star Club is allowing fishing on its lengths of the canal.
