A family-run recruitment firm is celebrating continuing growth after 25 years in the business.

Family run Rotherwood Recruitment has made its first foray into Lancashire just ahead of reaching the landmark anniversary this month.

Set up by chairman Dennis Pagdin in March, 1976, the company has spread to cover a wide area of West and North Yorkshire, recently launched a new office in Colne, Lancashire.

Rotherwood's specialist driver hire division, meanwhile, is one of the largest operations of its kind in the region and meets the needs of clients as far afield as Manchester.

Last year, continuing expansion was consolidated with the appointment of Mr Paglin's daughter, Jo, as managing director. Under her guidance, the agency's commercial placement business has increased by 50 per cent and annual turnover exceeds £2 million.

She said: "One of our major strengths is that we remain constantly aware of the availability of suitable local personnel across a comprehensive range of occupations and positions.

Rotherwood now has more than 200 temporary staff on placement at any given time, many of whom go on to gain permanent employment.

It is the only local recruitment agency to hold membership of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, the industry's governing body, of which Mr Pagdin is a member.

Demand in the industrial sector had also changed, he added, with picking and packing personnel increasingly being sought, rather than just labourers.
