PARISH councillors in Ilkley have given the green light to a bid to

renovate the interior of one of Ilkley's most famous buildings - Myddelton Lodge.

The redevelopment would include converting the lodge - a Grade I listed building and formerly a religious retreat - into a family home, guest apartments and office.

"It's a good re-use of a very important historical building," said planning committee chairman Audrey Brand. "The alterations will be sympathetically done. We think it will keep the place vibrant and alive. There will be car parking which will very aesthetically done. They are also going to upgrade the landscaping on the terraces."
