Park Amateurs........38 Guiseley Rangers......22

GUISELEY Rangers may be down but are definitely not out after a gritty and spirited performance last Saturday at Park Amateurs. Rangers led up to five minutes from the break, Stuart Patchett having opened the scoring when he ran onto a Darren Clayton pass, to split the home defence on his way to the line.

Then winger Alex Bayfield, carrying an injury, hobbled to the line to give Rangers a ten point lead. The home team fought back to level the score and then penalties both ways took the score to 16 points each until, just before half-time, when Park scored a converted try to give them a six point lead at the break.

A further injury to Rangers' Phil Smith didn't help matters and the team were somewhat dis-organised in the second-half. The home team got on top and further scores from them took them further away from Rangers but it was Rangers who saved the best till last, with the best try of the game from Stuart Patchett following a great break by Tim Cowling leading to the ball going through three pairs of hands before Patchett touched down under the posts. The conversion completed the scoring. A good performance this, from a depleted Guiseley side.

l This Saturday Rangers will entertain the league leaders Birkenshaw, kicking-off at Nunroyd at 2.30pm.

Last Sunday, the under-11's were in a real tryscoring mood, overcoming the visitors West Craven 50-20. Highlights of this performance came from Robert Butterfield with five tries, Jamie Thompson with an interception and length of the field try and Shannon Horne, whose great individual effort saw her burst through a number of tackles to score.

Other try scorers were James Bottomley, Christopher Kaye, and a second from Jamie Thompson. Conversions came from Benjamin Lee, Joshua Douglas and James Bottomley. This was a very good team performance.

The under-8's continued their winning ways, in atrocious conditions at Ovenden, with a 32-10 victory. Try scorers were Luke Exley (4), Dean Bowles and Thomas Cree and conversions came from Jonathan Bottomley, Dean Bowles, Nicky Hardwick and Harrison Durkin.

This Sunday, the under-8's are at home to Sowerby Bridge, kick- off at 10.30am and the under-11's will entertain Milnrow, from Rochdale, kicking-off at 11.15am.

On Saturday morning all the juniors and their parents have been invited to tour Leeds Rhinos' home at Headingley, with a training session thrown in and, hopefully, the opportunity to grab a few Rhino autographs. Parents and Players should meet at the dressing rooms at 9.30am.
