SNOW brought an end to any hopes Otley had of cementing their National One place with a win at Moseley.

Saturday's crucial clash with the Midlands side was called off leaving Otley on 39 points from 21 games and Moseley on 37 from 20 games.

The Otley players were instead put through their paces by the coaching staff as they prepare for their next task away to bottom club Waterloo on Saturday, March 31.

That then leaves them with league games to play against Wakefield and Bedford at home and Coventry and Moseley away.

Harrogate A...5

TONGANS took on Harrogate Third XV, who they had drawn with earlier in the season, and in near perfect conditions they produced an excellent performance on the Cross Green pitch.

A strong Harrogate side took the game to Otley from the off and dominated the first quarter but the Tongans' defence, which has been miserly all season, held and gradually fought their way into the game. They took the lead on 25 minutes when Tim Westlake-Bryant made ground down the right before passing inside to Adrian Keeler, who raced over. James Henry converted and then added a penalty.

Right on half-time prop Chris Booth threw a long pass to Craig Jackson and he gathered and cut inside to outstrip the cover for the try. James Henry converted to make it 17-0, a score that flattered the home side.

Tongans began to spread the ball on the re-start and Tim Westlake-Bryant, who was a constant threat, ran strongly down the wing before exchanging passes with Jonathan Bennett and powering over, James Henry again converting. In the next attack Henry tacked on a penalty.

Harrogate brought on three replacements and hit back strongly to exert considerable pressure and this paid off when their number eight forced his way over.

Tongans were playing Barbarian type rugby now to entertain a good crowd and their next score started in their own '22' and skipper Nick Girling was

involved in the move twice before unselfishly putting James Henry over.

In the dying minutes the move was repeated and James Henry converted both tries to notch a personal tally of 26 points.

In a good team performance Martin Keeler was Man-of-the-Match with his work in the loose and at the front of the line-out and he was well-supported by Dave Green and Scott Poole.

James Henry had a good all-round game at fly-half.
