Keighley Cougars coach Steve Deakin has warned his players of a Widnes backlash on Sun-day.

The Vikings sacked their coach David Hulme following their home defeat by Doncaster last weekend, and Dewsbury boss Neil Kelly was installed as his replacement today.

"We must be very wary of what can happen in situations like this," said Deakin.

"Players can often feel they have to make amends, and that's when it becomes a problem for the opposition." he said.

The Cougars have named the same 17 that took the spoils last weekend, with Carlos Sanchez and Gareth Hooson making up the squad.

Cougars ace Martin Wood will be looking to extend a scoring sequence covering 37 matches. It began over a year ago with four goals in the home defeat by Leigh Centurions.

Kelly, who ended his five-year reign at Dewsbury yesterday, has been First Division coach of the year twice in the last three years and was assistant to Wales coach Clive Griffiths in last year's World Cup.

The former hooker steered Dewsbury to the Northern Ford Premiership title last year following a second successive Grand Final appearance, but his ambition to coach in Super League was thwarted when the Rams were denied promotion because of inadequate facilities.

Kelly, who was out of contract at Dewsbury, said: "I've told them of my intention to accept the Widnes offer. It's all very civilised.

"I want to have a go at Super League, and there are no Super League clubs falling over themselves to offer me a position at the moment.

"So I've got to go to the one club in the division that would go up if they won the Grand Final."
