A list of areas currently closed to the public was issued on Monday by Bradford Council.

Closed areas include: Ilkley Moor, Rombalds Moor, Baildon Moor, Baildon Green, Shipley Glen, Harden Moor, Penistone Hill, Haworth Moor, Keighley Moor, the 'Bronte moors' west of Keighley, and Littlemoor Park in Queensbury.

Public footpaths and bridleways are closed where they pass through, lead to or are next to agricultural land, commons, open grazing land or moorland.

Recreation areas and council-owned woodlands are also closed where they contain livestock or vulnerable wildlife such as deer, and where they have access to nearby agricultural grazing land or farm buildings.

This includes paths near allotments with vulnerable animals.

Still open are: public footpaths and bridleways in urban areas where there is no livestock nearby; all urban parks and recreation grounds except Littlemoor Park at Queensbury; Hirst Wood, Northcliffe Wood, Old Spring Woods, all in Shipley; Chellow Dene, Allerton; Park Wood and Holden Park Wood in Keighley and Keighley Tarn; Fairbank Wood, Ebor Mills Nature Reserve, Baildon Bank and Brook Hill, all in Baildon; Bracken Hill, Great Horton; Reevy Mill Dam, Buttershaw; Boars Well Nature Reserve, Canal Road, Bradford, and Toad Holes Beck and Railway Terrace, both Wyke.

British Waterways says the Leeds-Liverpool Canal towpath between the Five Rise Locks at Bingley and Leach's bridge at Riddlesden - and the section through Silsden - is open to the public, but other sections locally are currently closed.

A spokesman said: "We have had a lot of enquiries from the public and on the whole people have been very understanding.

"We are constantly looking at the situation and are in regular contact with the local authority and with other bodies."

Up to date information on sections of canal closed is available from British Waterways on 01923 201120 or from its web site at www.british-waterways.org.uk.
