Youngsters will be sure of a big surprise when they go down to the Manorlands Teddy Bears Picnic.

The Sue Ryder Care hospice in Oxenhope is inviting youngsters to bring along their favourite fluffy companion for an afternoon of storytelling and fun on Saturday, May 19.

Health and child care students from Keighley College will be dressing up and reading stories to the kids and their teddies.

Other attractions will include a picnic, face painting, bouncy castle, balloon race, hook a duck and an obstacle course.

Fundraiser Chris Bown says: "We held the Teddy Bear's Picnic for the first time last year and it was an enjoyable day that raised £350.

"We are hoping for better things this year, and a better day as the weather wasn't brilliant last year.

"It is a joint venture between ourselves and the girls from Keighley College, who will be planning which stories to read and organising the games. It is actually part of their course so it is good experience for them and a fun day for us and the children who take part."

The Teddy Bears Picnic will take place between 1.30 and 4pm and tickets are £3.50, which includes all the activities and the picnic. For more information contact fundraisers Sally Owthwaite and Chris Bown on 01535 642308.
