Keighley Phoenix face Silsden in the final of the Keighley Cup -- thanks to a narrow 4-3 win over Steeton.

Second Division side, Steeton, enjolyed the early pressure letting the Premier Division outfit know they were in for a tough game.

Ben Furness, who was chosen to represent the County Amateur league this week, opened the scoring. He beat two defenders and rounded the keeper before side-footing home.

It was soon 2-0, Mick Gillmartins seemingly easy shot unfortunately fumbled into the net by the goalkeeper. Steve Lister made it 3-0 with a delicate chip over the advancing keeper.

Phoenix started the second half as they finished the first; Rob Hortons thunderbolt drive from outside the box gave them a comfortable 4-0 lead. They seemed to take the foot off the pedal and Steeton took full advantage with some direct football.

Spirit's were lifted when their left midfielder jumped highest to knock the ball into the path of Alex Familio who pushed the ball past Linyard. Steeton then halved the goal deficit when Ross was adjudged to have felled Damien Whiteoak in the box and Whiteoak converted the penalty. James Gill scored the best goal of the game as his 30 yard volley screamed into the top corner past a hapless Paul Linyard.

Phoenix held out in a frantic last 10 minutes and squeezed into the final.
