At the last match of the inter-city season the second team earned promotion and they held a celebration dinner at the Airedale Heifer. Results: Keighley A beat Hull away 11-9, Keighley B beat Shelley 16-4 and Keighley C beat Halifax away 16-4.

The club has congratulated June Manning, Nigel Ramsey, Steve Pollard and Judith Biles who were top Yorkshire team in the Nottingham Swiss Teams competition and took third place overall.

Last weekend the club's chairman Chris Close and his wife, Dorothy, took part in the Doncaster Swiss Pairs and won the Non-Expert prize.

Shooting

Keighley Rifle Club has enjoyed success in the Yorkshire 25-yard League competition. the A team of Rod West, D Lee, Cheryl Moore and Ken Turkington won Division Two within 11 victories, one tie and three defeats.

The C team of B G Barker, D Mountain, P O'Hara and A Greenwood won Division Nine. The B team of D Archer, R Moore, B T Holmes and G Rawstron were third in Division Five.

In the knockout competition the team beat Driffield and now take on Hallamshire in the final.

Peter O'Hara shot his first highest-possible score of 100 out of 100 in round 12 of Keighley C team's match. Neil O'Hara has won Division Two of the Yorkshire 25-yard league at just 16 years of age.

n The club's 78th annual meeting is to be held at the Parkwood indoor range on Monday at 8.00pm.

Cycling

Cycle races have been severely restricted due to the Foot and Mouth outbreak, but Bronte Wheelers rider Richard Simmons performed well in a 30-mile race at Preston Arena's closed circuit. He took seventh place from a field of over 80 riders.
