Milford Marlins 14

Keighley Albion 32

Albion got off to a poor start losing Lee Stridd in only the second minute of the game with a knee injury. While Albion were reorganising they were caught offside. Marlin's prop, David Bray, kicked the goal to give them a two point lead.

From the restart Marlins heavier pack tried their usual intimidating tactics in roughing Albion up. But they were duly penalised and Dean Brookes levelled the scores.

Albion's open game was causing problems with Cameron Liddle in outstanding form. He picked up a clever Jon Gwillam chip through to score by the posts and Brookes added the extras.

From the restart Albion were straight back in attack. Chris Atkins brought the ball back to the half-way line and from the play-the-ball Neil Jordan went 20m before putting Tony Fretwell in for a well taken try out wide. Dean Brookes added the goal to put the Keighley side firmly in front. He added a further penalty goal on 30 minutes.

Not to be outdone the Marlins hit back with Chris Smith diving on a loose ball in the corner. The goal attempt was off target but the home side had a score to take in to half-time at 16-6.

A 40m break out of defence by Cameron Liddle saw Tony Fretwell put Chris Hogg in for an excellent long range try. The goal attempt was off target but Albion had increased their lead to 20-6.

Marlins enjoyed a purple patch in which they scored two tries in four minutes. Hooker Graham Nash stepped out of a tackle to score by the posts.

The second, again from a tap penalty, saw centre Adam Clapshaw go over out wide.

From the restart Albion counter-attacked from long range with a Dean Brookes run on the last tackle to feed Chris Atkins. He supplied Gwillam who went over.Brookes added the extras to put Albion in the box seat.

They further increased their lead when the ball went through six pairs of hands with Martin Fryers putting Ed Billings over. Although both touch judges gave the conversion attempt the referee overruled them for no goal. In the last minute Dean Brookes rounded it all off with a penalty goal.

Tomorrow Albion entertain Blackbrook at Crossflatts looking for another win. K.O 2:30pm.

Crigglestone All Blacks 38

Keighley Town 24

Keighley Town's frustrating season continued with a final scoreline which did not reflect the effort of the Town lads.

They were caught cold after arriving late for their Pennine League game at Crigglestone. Coached by Wigan's Chris Chester they hit Town with three converted tries while Town minds were still in the dressing room.

The keighley side were 28-8 down at half-time, their points coming from an outstanding Andy Stokes try and two Neil Kennedy goals.

With a mountain to climb in the second half Town responded with some strong running from centres Gary Marples and Andy Stokes putting constant pressure on the All Blacks defence.

Town were rewarded for their efforts with two tries from Man of the Match Gary Marples, converted by Kennedy as the Keighley outfit continued to move the ball wide to stretch the Crigglestone defence. Andy Stokes scored his second try of the afternoon to put Town within a score of the All Blacks before they sealed victory with two late tries.

In a much improved second half performance from Keighley Town, James Shaw was again impressive as were centres Marples and Stokes.

Tomorrow Town travel to Park Amateurs.
