Lothersdale A kept their dream of the First Division title alive - but they need a 10-0 win in their final match of the season.

They play Terriers A in the last game and must take a clean sweep to pip Embassy for the title following two superb performances. Bob Davis, now thankfully recovered from an eye problem, led from the front with a 21-15, 21-19 defeat of Ben Lowe in the first rubber at home to Oakworth on his way to a full house. Dave Adams and Martin Connolly also registered trebles with Connolly's 18-21, 21-19, 21-15 defeat of Lowe being top class as his team ended with a maximum haul.

Following this, Lothersdale visited last season's Champs Nelson, who should have given the Craven team a searching examination. However, as on too many occasions for the Lancastrian's comfort this season, they failed to live up to expectations, capitulating to the determination of their opponents. Only a David Ayrton success against Bob Davis troubled the scoreboard on Nelson's behalf as the visitors swept to a 9-1 victory in which Mark Ryecroft played a full part with a 21-14, 21-9 defeat of Catherine Lawson followed by 21-11, 21-8 and 21-12, 21-9 successes against Michael Wrigley and Ayrton respectively.

Ukrainian 'B', who filled last season's runners up berth, are, unwittingly, the living proof of how much the standard has improved in the Keighley League this year. With only two matches to play they are not yet sure of avoiding the drop into Division Two! Another stuttering performance away at Oakworth culminated in a 6-4 defeat in which Keith Wilkinson was a class apart for the hosts with an easy treble. If the unthinkable happened for the Ukies it would be an injustice for Peter Holbrook who has contributed 30 out of his teams total of 52 points so far this season and may yet finish top of the averages once again.

Terrier's 'C' are still in with a good chance of promotion following a 6-4 victory at Ilkley Road 'A' in the Second Division that effectively puts the Riddlesden team out of the reckoning. To start with it looked as though it was going to be the Roaders night as Steve Barton shocked Mark Emmott to win 21-17, 21-16, but the visitors rallied and a couple from Tom Lacey, one from Stuart Myers and a couple from Mark Emmott, including a 21-19, 21-18 defeat of Roy Towler, eased Terrier's into second spot.

In Division Three, Wilsden only require 2 more points from their remaining couple of matches to clinch the title, but the race for the second promotion spot is sure to go to the wire with the two Ilkley Road teams battling it out for supremacy. The 'C' are now within one point of the 'B' string following a powerful performance at St Wilf's where Graeme and Mark Waterhouse and Phil Singleton ran riot at the expense of their opponents and, with only a couple each to play, one of which is a derby, it is impossible to forecast the eventual outcome.
