Bradford Park Avenue will be aiming to regain an eight point advantage at the top of the UniBond Division One with victory at Horsfall Stadium tonight over Radcliffe Borough.

They have the opportunity because second placed Ashton United were held to a home draw by Matlock Town.

Trevor Storton's men will also be boosted by the return from a two-match suspension of striker Jason Maxwell.

Maxwell had found his scoring form before his enforced lay-off and had overtaken Andy Hayward in the number of goals scored for Avenue this term.

Hayward made the most of his forward partner's absence by netting in the Bradford side's 2-1 victory over Belper Town last Wednesday and the 2-2 draw at Lincoln United on Saturday. The two strikes made him Avenue's leading marksman once again with 20 goals but Maxwell - who has found the target 19 times so far - is keen to rekindle the contest.

Manager Trevor Storton said: "We create chances so our forwards are bound to score because of the percentage factor.

"I don't mind where the goals come from as long as they win us enough games to gain promotion."

Last night saw Guiseley extend their unbeaten run to five matches with a 1-1 draw at home to promotion-chasing Stocksbridge PS.

However, the result failed to lift Neil Parsley's men out of the bottom four.

Guiseley took the lead through Phil Atkinson's goal direct from a corner in the 16th minute but Steels hit back through Gary Hurlstone on the hour.

In the Northern Counties East Premier Division Thackley earned a goalless draw with fourth-placed Goole at Dennyfield.

In an entertaining match home keeper Richard Cornwall was forced into one stunning save in the first half, while Amjad Iqbal and Andy Patterson both went close to breaking the deadlock for Thackley.

Eccleshill United were beaten 4-0 by second placed Ossett Albion.

Liversedge were knocked out of the NCE League Cup in a third round tie at Borrowash Victoria after the match took precedence over the proposed Premier Division visit to Alfreton Town.

The Derbyshire side ran out 2-0 winners with goals from Kevin Budge and Wayne Thornhill.
