"A statement released by the parish council says: "Your Parish Council is currently investigating the possibility of assuming further powers and responsibilities.

"In order to help the Council in its deliberations we would kindly ask that you complete a small questionnaire.

"The questions are simply to give an understanding of our electorates' view and are not designed to form the council's opinion or intention themselves.

"We would ask that you state your postcode. This is not to identify your house number but simply to ensure that the process is democratic and not abused."

l Readers who wish to make their views known should tick the answer boxes and delete as appropriate, and cut out the form, which should be returned to the Parish Clerk, Ilkley Town Hall, Station Road, Ilkley LS29 8HB by Friday, April 27.
