A roadshow is visiting Keighley and Haworth next week to gather people's ideas on the Bradford bid to be European Capital of Culture in 2008.

The public is being given the chance to help shape the district's bid by putting forward suggestions for possible activities.

The roadshow -- which is to visit venues throughout the Bradford district -- will include a mobile display stand outlining details of the bid and some of the ideas already received.

It will be in Low Street, Keighley, outside the Market Hall, next Thursday, from 10.30am-3pm. Its Haworth visit -- to the Parsonage Museum car park -- will be on Saturday, April 21, also from 10.30am-3pm.

Bradford Council leader Councillor Margaret Eaton said: "The roadshows demonstrate our commitment to ensuring that people throughout the Bradford district have a real chance of contributing to the Capital of Culture bid.

"I am looking forward to seeing some more ideas from the public."

Details of suggested activities can be sent to Capital of Culture, FREEPOST NEA10934, Bradford BD1 1BR.

Alternatively, people can phone 01274 752008 or visit the web site at www.thisisbradford.co.uk/2008.

Some of the best and more unusual ideas will be displayed at venues across the district, where there will be a chance for the public to comment on the proposals before the final bid is drawn up.

Other roadshow venues are: Friday, April 20, Wellcroft, Shipley (10.30am-3pm); Sunday, April 22, outside Saltaire UR Church, Victoria Road (11.30am-3pm); Monday, April 23, central car park, Ilkley (10.30am-3pm); Tuesday, April 24, junction of Bank Street, Tyrrel Street and Hustlergate, Bradford (10.30am-3pm); Wednesday, April 25, next to Bingley Library (10.30am-noon) and then at the Stephen Smith Garden Centre, Wilsden (1-3pm).
