TWO lifters from the Keighley Weight-Lifiting and Powerlifting Club pulled out all the stops in the Yorkshire and North East Championships at Gateshead on Sunday.
Amjid Iqbal qualified for the British Under-23 Powerlifting Championships with a total lift of 495kg (386Lbs) inthe 75kg class. He only started lifting 10months ago and added 45kg to his personal best.
Gavin Ripley took on a European Champion in the 90kg class and was a close second. He produced personal bests in all his lifts to finish with a total 645kg (1421lbs).
"They are both lifters with the ability to progress even further," said club official Stuart McConville.
