Dougie Lampkin spent a day filming with the BBC in Manchester for a brand new programme motorsport programme.

Dougie took his riding skills to the city centre with filming in the Castlefield area, behind Granada studios - the home of Coronation Street. He treated the film crew to a series of slow wheelies on the canal towpath before moving on to some more extreme manoeuvres.

His display on the Roman wall and nearby Metrolink steps was simply awesome and left the programme producer speechless. Adding a touch of humour to the occasion the reigning World champion made light work of demolishing a car that had been towed in place for filming.

Rain just before lunch forced an early retreat to the trendy Dukes 92 bar where after light refreshments, Dougie entertained the crowd of pin-striped diners with a perfect performance on the internal metal staircase. Interviews with the man himself and his father Martin concluded what had been a different day's work.

Dougie said: "It's always nice to do something away from the normal kind of trials riding and I think today has worked out really well. I've had a chance to see some of the footage from the helmet cam I wore and it looks brilliant. When it's all pieced together it should make a good programme and very interesting viewing, irrespective if you're into bikes or not."

The programme provisionally titled 'Leather Gear' is scheduled to be transmitted this autumn on BBC 2 and the BBC's new digital entertainment channel.

He went on to win the Spanish National trial at Bejar west of Madrid. Organisers made sure the British rider went first with every other rider keeping a close eye on how he tackled the difficult sections, but he still claimed victory.
