A mother-of-three has died after a car crash which also left her teenage daughter with minor injuries.

Teresa Vanda Rossi, 44, died from her injuries last night after her silver Honda CRV crashed into a dry stone wall at the junction of Rhodesway with Allerton Road, in Daisy Hill, Bradford, after a collision with another car.

Her 15-year-old daughter Cristina, who was a passenger in the four-wheel drive vehicle, suffered back injuries.

The teenage driver of a blue Vauxhall Cavalier, which was also involved in the accident, suffered minor cuts.

A West Yorkshire police spokesman said the two vehicles were travelling in the same direction along Rhodesway when they collided at 11.10pm last night.

The collision forced the Honda into a lamp post and wall, the spokesman said.

Mrs Rossi's husband Orlando was working at his restaurant, Orlando's, in Keighley Road, Frizinghall, which he ran with his wife, when his daughter rang him from a call box near to the accident.

Speaking today from the family home in Brantdale Road, Heaton, the devastated 45-year-old said: "Cristina was distraught. She said she'd had an accident and told me where she was.

"I just thought they've had an accident, I'll go and see what's wrong. I didn't expect that kind of accident.

"When I arrived Cristina said her mum had already been taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary.

"A paramedic came over and offered to take Cristina to hospital but she said she wanted to come with me.

"When we were at the hospital we were waiting for them to come and tell us what had happened to Teresa. It took about half an hour before they told us she was dead."

The restaurateur said his wife was returning from Halifax, where she had picked Cristina up, when the accident happened.

He said their sons Paolo, 17, and Marco, 21, were struggling to come to terms with their mother's death.

Mr Rossi said: "Teresa was the best. You'd be a very lucky man if you found someone anything like my wife. We've been together since we were 17. We've been married 21 years.

"The kids loved her to death - she was their life and they were hers.

"The two younger ones aren't coping so well. They're staying with their grandmother Maria Rossi Crrt who lives in Rhodesway, just at the end where the accident happened.

"Teresa's mother Ursula Nurzinski Crtt, who is Polish, lives in Lidget Green. The whole family are all absolutely devastated."

Protective barriers had today been put up across the partially-destroyed dry-stone wall at the accident scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact Bradford North police on (01274) 376259.
