Steve Welch - Cullingworth

Damian Rowell looked to have put Haworth on the way to a certain victory when the West Lane side was robbed by the weather.

Rowell took five for 23 as the beleagured Carleton side, with just nine men, were dismissed for 62. Neville Allan had made a gallant 34 not out for the Craven side.

The Bronte outfit were strolling to victory on 20 without loss when the heavens opened and the game was washed out.

Every game in the league was affected and there wasn't a finish to any of the games where play actually started.

Pendle Forest were under the cosh at home to Thornton. They had reached 64-8 when the rain arrived, Brian Laycock having taken 5-20.

Skipton CI may have been thankful for the rain. Visitors Barrowford had shot them out for 56. David Hartley had a good spell with the ball taking 6-11 in 9.4 overs. The Bull Holme side had scored only one run and lost one wicket in 6.4 overs.

Only two games in the Second Division saw any play and both ended during the tea interval. Newcomers Cullingworth rattled up 207 at home to Glusburn. Skipper Steve Welch top scored with 47 and David Hall hit the ball through a house window, as well as losing one down a drainpipe!

K Gott made 93 as Cononley scored 93 at home to Chatburn. Richard Shovelton took 6-21 for the Ribblesdale side.

There was play in all but one of the games in the Third Division.

Steve Ellis was left stranded on 95no as Pendle Forest had reached 183-6 over at Chatburn.

Ian Robson was at his miserly best as he took eight Long Lee wickets for just 15 in 19.5 overs, the Keighley side being dismissed for 66. Embsay's reply stopped at 7-1.

Cowling reached 36 without loss at home to Oakworth. Then Jason Lockly 6-10 and Gary Searby 4-19 whipped them out for the addition of only 19 more runs. The visitors could feel aggrieved at the weather as they had made 31-2 when play closed.

Skipton CI dismissed Barrowford for 77.

Sutton made a creditable 132 in the local derby at Glusburn, M Allport making 38 as Colin Ridehalgh took 5-65. The homeside's reply closed at 43-2.

The game at Bradley, where Haworth were the visitors was very interestingly poised at the unscheduled close. Gemma Rishworth had taken 7-32 as the homesters were dismissed for 90. Craig Tempest top scored with 42. The Bronte side were rocking on 19-3 with Andy Smithson having taken 3-2. (Rumour had it that there were some red and embarrassed faces in the Slaters Arms after the game.)

Fred Brooker-Carey made 34 as Foulridge scored 100 at home to Ingrow in the Fourth Division, R Sollett taking 4-14. The visitors had made 1-1 in reply. Another side to be denied the points were Gargrave. They had restricted visitors Cullingworth to 114-8 with Martin Foulds having taken 5-34 in 22 overs. Despite interruptions for the weather the game concluded at 8pm with the homeside having reached 102-4.

There was no play in any of the scheduled games for Sunday.
