Bulls winger Tevita Vaikona hardly got a pass at Twickenham but it was a case of normal service resumed as the side moved back to the top of Super League in midweek.

The Tongan ace had made a great start to the campaign before damaging an ankle in the Challenge Cup semi-final win over Warrington in early April.

He's not quite been the same players since and was a virtual spectator as St Helens triumphed in last Saturday's Challenge Cup final.

But a hat-trick against the Wolves on Wednesday showed just what a danger he can be and it was more than enough to earn him the Opta player-of-the-week award.

His Opta Index Rating of 1714, produced after over 50 categories of statistics are analysed by experts, was the highest total seen so far in Tetley's Super League VI.

"I am delighted for Tevita," said Bulls coach Brian Noble. "He has worked hard in recent weeks to get back to full fitness, and when he is in that kind of form he is very difficult to stop."

But the modest Vaikona was quick to heap praise on his colleagues.

"It was nice to get over for the hat-trick but it was a good team effort and that was very important."

There's no time to sit back and savour it though with the Tigers ready to pounce.

"I am pretty confident we can beat them but we will have to draw on all our reserves of stamina, both mentally and physically, to do it.

"Cas' are a quality side. They are well drilled and well prepared. It will be difficult for us to come off the back of so many games in a short space of time, so we will have to pick ourselves up and do our best," he added

Vaikona may have a new right wing partner with Scott Naylor struggling to recover from a hamstring injury.

Naylor could face a battle for his place in any event following Graham Mackay's impressive 20 minute outing on Wednesday.

Mackay scored a try himself and laid on Vaikona's second and third as the pair struck up an immediate rapport which promised much for the future.
