Nigel Hanson produced an outstanding bowling performance to help Bankfoot to keep up the pressure on Woodlands at the top of the Bowes Section.

The pace bowler took nine for 52 as second- placed Bankfoot beat Windhill at Busy Lane by 108 runs.

It was their ninth win out of 12, but they remain two points behind Woodlands, who won a high-scoring match at Esholt by eight wickets.

Hanson was only denied the coveted all-ten when overseas player Saleem Mughal took the last wicket.

Replying to Bankfoot's total of 198, bottom club Windhill were never in contention after losing their first four wickets for eight runs.

At one stage, they were 63 for nine before No 5 Tony Jones and last man Nasir Khaliq added 27 and they were bowled out for 90. Jones, who tried in vain to hold the innings together, was left on 65 not out - a remarkable innings.

Kevin Dewhirst and Danny Gaunt each scored 64 in Esholt's 233 for six, but that apparently formidable target held no fears for Woodlands.

An opening stand of 169 between Russell Murray (90) Nicky Rushworth put them in charge and they won with 5.1 overs to spare, Rushworth being unbeaten on 95.

Idle opener Hassan Adnan played the day's outstanding innings in Division Two with 136 out of third-placed Idle's 274 for six at Manningham Mills.

The match went ahead after Mills removed a burnt-out car from their square - the latest act of vandalism at Scotchman Road.

Adnan shared a third-wicket stand of 160 with Naham Ashraf (54). The total was too much for Mills, who settled for a draw on 161 for seven.

Mirfield maintained their ten-point lead at the top of the Verity Section, but only after a tense one-wicket win in a low-scoring match at home to Keighley.

After restricting Keighley to 130 for nine, Mirfield struggled in reply, losing their first two wickets for three.

James Walker (31) and John Storey (19) rallied them with a third-wicket stand of 51, but they lost men regularly after that before squeezing home with one over to spare as Dale Towler took five for 35.

Lightcliffe are still ten points behind in second place after beating Morley at home by 57 runs in another low-scoring match.

Opener Nick Pyrah held Lightcliffe's innings together as Morley bowled them out for 128, but Morley slid to 71 all out, James Horne taking seven for 38.

In other matches, skipper Richard Whitehurst's innings of 108 was in vain as Drighlington lost by seven wickets at Hartshead Moor.

Drighlington were bowled out for 191 and second-wicket pair Mick Stevenson (62not out) and Glen Wilkinson (84) put Hartshead on course for victory with a stand of 144.

Opener Imran Younis scored 105 in Bowling Old Lane's 12-run home win over Saltaire.

Saltaire captain Robert Hodson took six for 99 in 24 overs as Old Lane made 222 for nine. Tarek Alam led the visitors' victory bid with 98, but they were bowled out for 210.

Great Horton settled for a draw at Salts with 178 for six in reply to the home side's 219 for eight.
