Splash - Sports and Police Leisure Activities in the School Holidays - is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a larger than ever programme of summer fun.

More than 6,000 people in the Spen Valley and the rest of Kirklees are expected to attend its events throughout the summer.

This year's programme includes activity weeks at 15 sites over five weeks. Extra schemes will take place in Mirfield, and culminate in a Festival of Sport at Spenborough Track on Saturday, August 25.

Activities include football, hockey, multi-sports activities, together with off-site activities such as canoeing, climbing and mountain biking.

The Splash scheme will run at the Shirley recreation ground in Gomersal, from 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm from Monday, July 30, to Friday, August 3, and at RM Grylls Middle School in Hightown, Liversedge, from 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm between Monday, August 20 and Friday, August 24.

There will be athletics between 4pm and 6pm every Thursday, from July 23 to August 24, at Spenborough Track and rugby between 2pm and 3pm each Friday at a Mirfield venue still to be confirmed.

The scheme will continue in Mirfield from Monday, July 23, to Friday, August 24.
