Joy Steele and Richard Gartside had more than their fair share of problems when it came to organising their big day.

But thanks to the generosity of Telegraph & Argus readers, the couple have tied the knot in style.

Struggling to find an affordable reception venue which could accommodate her wheelchair, Joy appealed for help in the T&A in February.

She was inundated with offers from a specially-designed wedding dress from Cottage Bridal in Undercliffe to a free karaoke machine.

And the couple from Heaton were thrilled when the owner of Holroyds House Hotel gave them a free function room for the reception after their marriage on Saturday at the Holy Trinity Church in Idle, Bradford.

Formerly the old manor house in Wibsey, the property has recently been refurbished to meet the latest regulations for disabled access.

On Saturday, flowers adorned the special ramp leading to the function room, which is equipped with extra-wide doors for wheelchairs.

And following the celebrations, Joy and Richard did not have far to go to their honeymoon suite. The newly-weds were also offered a free, ground-floor bedroom for the weekend which is fitted with handrails and special furniture to meet disabled needs.

Owner Peter Kearns said "When I saw their appeal for help, I just rang them up and offered them the room free-of-charge.

"When Joy first came into the room, it gave us such great pleasure just to see look on her face," he said. "It really was a joy to behold."
