Popular full back Stuart Spruce has played his final game for Bradford Bulls and is set for an emotional farewell at Friday night's Super League clash with Hull at Valley Parade.

The 30-year-old Great Britain international has agreed to part company with the Odsal club as he continues to recover from a shoulder operation.

But he has not ruled out all hope of playing again with another club.

Spruce, who made the last of his 134 appearances for Bulls at Hull in April, said: "The Bulls have been really tremendous with me. There is no animosity about leaving, the injury is just one of those things.

"Obviously the timing was not good as it came in the season when my contract was running out, but it is one of those things you have to accept.

"I haven't given up hope of playing again. The shoulder feels better but I know I will only be returning with a lesser club than the Bulls.

"I have had five great years at Odsal and met some fabulous people. I will miss the daily involvement and also the fans.

"I feel I have always given them 100 per cent and in return they have given me 110 per cent. I am looking forward to saying goodbye and thank you to them on Friday."

Chairman Chris Caisley said the club would be showing a special video tribute on the big screen at Valley Parade to a player who scored 67 tries and featured in the 1997 Super League and 2000 Challenge Cup winning sides.

He said: "Stuart has been a part of the Bulls revolution almost from day one. I now hope that the fans give him the send off he so rightly deserves."
