A group of students from Bradford Youthbuild have been a given a crash course in construction in a scheme encouraging black and Asian people to take up jobs in the industry.
Exercises in bricklaying and block paving were among those tried by students at Construction Industry Training Board college in Norfolk, joined by a group from Halifax-based Nashayman Housing Association.
Youthbuild trainee Saqib Khan said: "I like the idea of construction as a career, but I wanted to know more about and what it was really like and this was a good opportunity for me."
Youthbuild's project coordinator Robert Cooper said: "This experience has been invaluable for the students.
"It has given them an insight into construction and a hands on taster of the type of work to be found in the industry, as well as teaching them the value of teamwork."
