A leading detective today said he desperately wanted to put the brutal killer of a teenage mum behind bars for the sake of her baby son.

More than three months after Rebecca Hall's naked and battered body was found dumped in an alleyway, Detective Chief Superintendent Max McLean said 'very little' information had been passed to his team.

Police believe people may be less inclined to support the hunt because Miss Hall was a working prostitute. But Det Chief Sup McLean said: "I would like to remind people that Becky was a 19-year-old mother of a four-month-old baby boy. I want to make sure that Becky's son Jordan grows up knowing that we caught his mum's killer and I can only do that with the help of the people of Bradford."

Det Chief Sup McLean said he was keen to trace Miss Hall's missing Motorola Startac phone, as well as a limited edition South Park watch, neither of which have been recovered. Miss Hall's body was found in an alleyway behind a car park at Thornton Street, on April 26. She had sustained a vicious and brutal beating and died from severe head injuries.

She had not been seen since she left her home at Lydford House, off Elizabeth St, Little Horton, at about 10pm on April 13, and it is thought she may have been held against her will before being murdered.

Officers have carried out around 1,500 lines of inquiry and taken nearly 300 statements. They have spoken to Miss Hall's friends and family, interviewed many of her known punters and quizzed men suspected of attacks on other prostitutes.

Forensic scientists, pathology experts and a 'Cracker'-style criminal profiler have also been called in to the manhunt.

"My team has focused on a large number of suspects over a very short period of time," said Det Ch Supt McLean. "We have had very little information from the public -I realise that this is probably due to the trade Becky worked in.

"I believe somebody local is out there who murdered this young Bradford girl and we need to catch that person. To have been found naked and beaten to death in an alleyway is an awful way to end a young life."

Miss Hall was 5ft 5ins tall with a slim build. Her hair was dyed red and in a bobbed style. She was last seen wearing black leggings and a purple sheer top.
