Chairman Geoffrey Richmond has hailed City's cheap-ticket offer as a resounding success.

But he said the club would spend the next week pondering whether to repeat the offer.

Richmond, pictured, said: "There is a careful balancing act needed between keeping faith with existing season-ticket holders who have paid their money up front and shown good faith from the start and trying to encourage new supporters.

"I will be thinking very carefully over the next week or so about pricing for future games. But clearly the response over the last two home games has been very positive.

"It would be fair to say that Wimbledon on a Tuesday night with us in mid-table would attract perhaps 10,000. In the event, it was our biggest crowd of the season (18,255) and largest of any that night in Division One."

Richmond claimed the "overwhelming" response from season-ticket holders had been supportive of the special offer where tickets were slashed to £5 adults and £1 concessions.

He said: "I've spoken to a number since the Wimbledon game who have felt that it's been the atmosphere in the last two games that has gained us four points.

"They have said they would rather sit in a stadium with great atmosphere than one which was more than half-empty. There has been a very positive benefit for the team and I can't imagine anyone who was there on Saturday or Tuesday who wouldn't want to come again."
