Gunnar Halle targeted City's first league clean sheet since August tonight, but admitted: "If we win 4-3 every week then nobody's complaining."

The Bantams have let in 28 goals from their last eight outings - an average of one every 26 minutes -- and head for their TV clash at Crewe with the second-worst defensive record in the division.

Four points from Valley Parade this week have released some of the tension building up from a dreadful October. A 4-3 win over Watford on Saturday was followed by the dramatic 3-3 draw with Wimbledon on Tuesday as City clawed back lost ground in heart-stopping fashion.

Defender Halle said: "Crewe is a game we should be able to win, and if we do then it's been a very good week for us.

"It is frustrating letting in so many goals. Of course, we are conceding far too many and we must work harder to stop them.

"But it seems everything the other team try is going in. Some of the goals going past us are unbelievable, like the ones Wimbledon scored.

"It's not just down to the back four to do something about it, but the whole team.

"But the way we like to go forward a lot leaves us quite open at times - and if we win 4-3 each time then it's all right.

"The important thing is to get back on track after our bad run, and if we had lost on Tuesday we would have been back to square one.

"Coming back like that has lifted everyone and we can go to Crewe a lot more confident than perhaps a week ago."

The contrast between Valley Parade and Gresty Road could not be bigger. While 45 goals have rained in during the nine Bantam home games, Crewe have seen only 14 from eight.

City boss Jim Jefferies said: "We certainly haven't short-changed anybody who has watched the last two games.

"We've just got to make sure we continue to put away our chances while also being a bit more solid."

Gareth Whalley's sore ribs force him to miss the reunion with his old club. David Wetherall and Robert Molenaar face late fitness tests.

Juanjo is in the squad for his debut, but is likely to start as a substitute.

Jefferies said: "He showed some nice touches for the reserves on Wednesday, although he didn't really have time to prepare.

"He will figure at some point, but maybe from the bench. He can come on and change the game."
