Men Behaving Badly actor Martin Clunes was at Oakworth Station on Monday for the filming of a one-off, spine-tingling programme for ITV.

The chilling drama -- A for Acid -- is about the notorious serial killer John George Haigh, who murdered six people in London in the 1940s.

A crew of 70, including cast members, descended on Oakworth for the day to shoot the scenes. The actors and production team stayed at Newsholme Manor Hotel, in Slack Lane, Oakworth.

The station is featured in the farewell shot when Haigh leaves his home town by steam engine to find his fortune in London.

Because the drama takes place in wartime the crew had to set up the shot and then wait for nightfall to film the scenes.

Bad boy Martin Clunes plays the villainous Haigh, and actress Keeley Hawes plays his sweetheart, Gillian.

Former model Keeley has appeared in BBC dramas such as The Moonstone, The Beggar Bride and alongside Paul McGann in Our Mutual Friend. She has recently taken on the role of the flighty receptionist Tricia, in the Channel 5 soap Hotel.

Haigh, born in 1910, was known as the acid bath murderer because he chopped up the bodies of his victims and then put the parts in drums filled with acid to dissolve the evidence.

He was caught out, however, when a policeman investigating the murders found the false teeth of one of the victims -- which had not dissolved in the acid -- in Haigh's flat.

Haigh killed his victims for money, stripping the bodies of valuables. Newspapers of the time reported he had no morals and no regrets about killing.

It is also said that Haigh drank the blood of one of his victims.

Haigh was convicted of the murders and was hung in Wandsworth Prison on August 10, 1949.

ITV is planning to show the drama in autumn next year.

The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway stations have long been popular with film crews.

Oakworth Station has been a favourite with the cameras since it was used in the 1970s version of The Railway Children.

Damems Station was also used recently by the BBC to shoot scenes for its planned new series Heart of the Valley.
