Keith Lee was again in great form for Nelson Nomads in the Keighley & District Table Tennis League First Division.

Playing away at Lothersdale 'B' no one could touch the Lancastrian with the local-sounding name as he grabbed three comprehensive victories over Martin Connolly, Peter Midgley and David Galley.

Catherine Lawson was unlucky to end up with only one, that being a 21-17, 18-21, 21-13 defeat of Galley, as both her other singles went to three ending in defeat in the third 22-20 to Connolly and 21-18 to Midgley. However, these two Lothersdale victories were their only consolation as Nelson's Michael Wrigley followed the lead of Lee in earning a full house, although Galley pushed him hard to lose 21-10, 15-21, 22-20 in a see-sawing encounter.

A less than fully fit Ben Lowe was made to suffer even further at the hands of the juniors from Oakbank. The Oakworth 'A' player drew a blank with defeats by Sam Fuller (21-15, 13-21, 21-15), Katie Lightowler (18-21, 21-18, 21-18) and Gareth Wiles (21-6, 21-15). Luckily, both Keith Wilkinson and Steve Busfield performed well with a couple each, Wilkinson's 9-21, 21-17, 21-11 defeat of Lightowler being a particularly determined effort, but neither could stop Wiles from notching yet another max. A 24-22, 21-15 win in the doubles for Lowe and Busfield against Fuller and Wiles ensured a share of the spoils for Oakworth.

In Division Two Adam Broadbent displayed real class and determination with two victories for Wilsden away at Cononley Sports. Facing a threesome boasting a diversity of styles, he beat attacker Michael Mitchell 15-21, 21-16, 21-14; left hander Phil Scarr 22-20, 16-21, 21-19 and then just failed against defensive player Stuart Maude 15-21, 21-16, 23-21 in a pulsating encounter. Younger brother Luke Broadbent also displayed rare talent with easy wins against Scarr and Maude, but slipped up in three against Mitchell. A doubles win for the brothers against Mitchell and Maude gave Wilsden a 7-3 success.

A promotion-chasing performance by Terriers 'B' at home to Ilkley Road 'B' gave the hosts a 10-0 success. Mark Emmott played well with his treble including a 21-17, 29-27 defeat of Karl McIntyre. Tom Lacey was pushed to three by Chris Dunn as was Stuart Myers by McIntyre but the Terriers completely out classed their opponents on the night.

John Pullen enjoyed an absolutely storming performance for Johnson & Johnson away at Wilsden. Firstly beating Luke Broadbent 21-14, 21-18, he went on to get the better of brother Adam Broadbent 21-15, 21-9 and father Dave Broadbent 21-18, 21-17. However, only a solitary win for Derek Stanforth, 21-15, 21-11 against Dave Broadbent, further troubled the score board on the visitors behalf as Wilsden ran out 6-4 victors with a 21-13, 21-18 win in the doubles for Adam and Luke over Alan Ripley and Pullen.

In Division Three, the clash between Haworth 'A' and 'B' at Butt Lane ended with a comprehensive 8-2 win for the 'B' team. The experienced Azeem Khan wrapped up his treble with a 21-6, 21-13 defeat of David Ogden and a couple from Kamran Ramzan and Junjun Miah helped the 'B' team on the way. Helal Ali did well with victories in three over Ramzan and Miah but it was too little too late for the 'A' team.

St Peters entertained fellow promotion hopefuls Ilkley Road 'C' and emerged with an impressive 7-3 victory. Tony Richardson, playing for the first time this season, was the perfect foil for fellow maximum man Richard Foster. His threesome included a 21-9, 21-13 defeat of Steve Ives who also slipped up 21-9, 23-21 against Foster. The Roader's points came evenly from their three players who all got the better of David Tomlinson.

Skipton 'B' had both Paul Griffin and Gerard Heselwood on song against Crossflatts 'B'. Full houses for the pair included a 17-21, 21-8, 21-9 success for Griffin against Patrick Legg and a Heselwood defeat of Robert Drummond 21-17, 21-16 as their team notched a 7-3 victory.
