Skipton are keeping their fingers crossed that lightning does not strike twice in the same place when they entertain Warrington side Eagle in Round Three of the RFU Junior Cup tomorrow (2.15).

Last season the Sandylands men were confident of toppling Hoylake, who play in South Lancashire & Cheshire Three, the same as Eagle, at the fifth round stage, but came badly unstuck on the Wirral.

That was viewed by skipper Declan Hayes as the only serious blip of the season and he is now taking solace from last week's defeat at Keighley as he looks ahead to the cup-tie.

"By all accounts, the game of Keighley was a blip in our form after some very good performances this season and hopefully that will be the Hoylake result of this season," he says. "We're fairly confident of making progress, although we cannot afford to be complacent. Losing last week will give us an added edge as we try to get back on track"."

North Ribblesdale have arranged a 'friendly' fixture at neighbours Kirkby Lonsdale tomorrow to keep the pot boiling in the absence of a cup fixture. Gareth Evans returns at full-back for the Grove Park men, but brother Stuart is sidelined after a knock at Hipperholme. Back-row man Mark Mortimer is also unavailable and Willie Garth takes his place.
