AFTER a string of their Lancashire League fixtures have been cancelled Guiseley Reserves have been left kicking their heels amidst growing frustration.

Their latest call off was at Accrington Stanley on Saturday when a frozen pitch prevented any play.

A host of reasons, some spurious such as Colwyn Bay not having a bus driver, have seen Guiseley fall behind on fixtures to the extent that league leaders Morecambe have played six games more than they have.

One time leaders Guiseley now languish in sixth place 15 points behind Morecambe.

If they win all their games they can still regain top spot but pressure is adding by the week with continual postponements which will leave Guiseley facing a fixture pile up through no fault of their own.

They hope for better luck this weekend when they are due to travel to Leigh RMI.

Guiseley's first team are still awaiting news of who their next cup opponents will be.

In the West Riding County Cup they have been drawn away at either Harrogate Town or Harrogate Railway. The tie between these two has been postponed several times due to Town's FA Trophy match at Kendal being delayed on three occasions due to a waterlogged/frozen pitch.

The County Cup match between the Harrogate sides is now scheduled for Tuesday January 8.

News on the UniBond League Cup front is also still vague as Bradford Park Avenue still have to play Whitby Town to determine the final positions in Guiseley's Group and who qualifies for the quarter-finals of which of the three UniBond cup competitions.
