HARRY Potter fans will be turning up in their droves to take part in a marathon reading session.

The back to back reading of all four Potter books is due to get underway at 9am tomorrow (Friday) in Otley.

And dozens of people, including the Mayor, Councillor Phil Coyne, have already offered to help out.

Fay Barker, a newsreader on television's Calendar, is due to take part and there is a chance that actors from Yorkshire Television's Heartbeat will take time out from filming in the town.

A specially constructed marquee has been put up outside The Bowling Green pub, Bondgate, for the readings which are expected to take more than 50 hours.

And hot soup and wizard drinks for the children are being laid on throughout the day and night.

Organiser Sue Robins, who is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for Breast Cancer Relief, said: "Quite a few people have come forward with offers to read.

"I thought I'd have trouble getting people for late at night and the early morning, but people have been saying they'll be coming off shifts then and will pop in."

Landlord Trevor Wallis will be spending much of the weekend in his specially made wizard outfit.

"I think it's a great idea. The books are fantastic and this is a fun way to raise money, I'll be certainly taking part," he said.

Several schools are also taking part with children ferried to and from the readings by special mini-bus.

Sue added: "There are still gaps but I'm not worried about them, they'll get covered one way or another."

Anyone wanting to help out should telephone Sue Robins on (01943) 465305.
