Rent increases for tenants of 40,000 council homes in the Bradford Metropolitan area were proposed at this afternoon's meeting of the Housing Panel. Details of the new increases will be given only after the Panel's decision, but the average increase has a 60p a week limit set by the Government. Coun. Ken Hirst, chairman of the panel, said today:

"I think we should be able to come out with something less than that."

Subways and sites for helicopter landings are included in plans for the new Bradford. A table-top model of a gleaming new city is on view to the public at the Town Hall today. Mr S. G. Wardley, City Engineer, pointed to Exchange Station (with a magnificent new frontage) and traced a subway to Forster Square. "From the square, I have suggested that various off-shoots of this main subway should link up with three sides of the square," he said.
