Friends of murder victim Brian Hardwick will wear their Wild West outfits as a mark of respect at his funeral on Tuesday.

Members of the Range Riders Country and Western Club will dress in traditional regalia as they celebrate the life of the Wild West fan from Wibsey.

And Mr Hardwick's widow Lynne has chosen to have his wide brimmed hat - which he wore for club meetings - placed on the coffin at the service in Nab Wood Crematorium.

Mr Hardwick, an auto electrician, was gunned down at his workplace, Huddersfield Car Electrical Service, on Novem-ber 21.

A tearful Mrs Hardwick said the funeral has been planned on a low-key Wild West theme.

"I know it is something Brian would have loved," she said. "And with having a Western wedding, I have decided to have a low-key Western funeral.

"The Range Riders are coming in Western gear, but as a mark of respect they will not be carrying their stage-prop guns. After the funeral we are going back to the Railway Club where the group meets."

Mrs Hardwick described the last eight weeks since her husband's death as 'sheer hell' and said she has got through it with support from friends and family.

"At least we can put him to rest even though we cannot find who has murdered him," she said.

The couple married in May last year. Songs at the funeral will include a track by Meatloaf, also played at the wedding. A posy identical to the one Mrs Hardwick carried at her wedding will be placed on the coffin.

The family has requested any donations be given to Cancer Research, as Brian's father and close friends died from the disease.

Huddersfield Police are still investigating Mr Hardwick's killing. Police frogmen this week searched the River Colne in Huddersfield to discover whether the killer threw the gun into the water.

Police are seeking two new people to eliminate from their inquiries, including a man who swore at Mr Hardwick hours before the shooting and then stormed off in a red car.

The man turned up at Hudd-ersfield Car Electrical Service at noon without an appointment and asked Mr Hardwick to check out a fault. He is described as white, in his late 30s to early 40s with dark hair.

Police are also trying to trace a man aged 25 to 30 with dark hair and a bomber jacket, who was seen staring into the garage from the opposite side of Colne Road at 10.30am

A police spokesman said: "We are continuing to receive positive new lines of inquiry."
