Police patrols have been stepped up in areas of Keighley after householders suffered a string of arson attacks.

Detectives believed the run of incidents, including burning material being pushed through letter boxes, a car torched and graffiti daubed on a house, have been triggered by 'an isolated domestic dispute'.

Detective Inspector Christ-opher Moorhouse said that, between 3.30am and 3.40am on Tuesday, two houses in Devonshire Street had burning material pushed through their letterboxes.

In one house the smoke alarm was triggered and, in both cases, the flames were put out before serious damage was caused.

At about 10.40pm on Thursday, fire crews were called to a white Vauxhall Cavalier which had been set alight in the same road.

Then, just after 2am the following day, burning material was pushed through the letterbox of a house in Sandy Street. The householder was woken by a smoke alarm and put out the flames.

He said graffiti was also daubed on the walls and a brick thrown through a window of the house.

A local teenager has been arrested and bailed in connection with the two offences in Devonshire Street on the 15th.

Det Insp Moorhouse added: "The police are following up positive lines of inquiry and hope to make additional arrests imminently. We are taking these incident very seriously and uniformed patrols have been stepped up in these areas and preventative measures have been taken at the addresses effected to stop similar occurrences."
