Keighley Cougars announced their latest signing today - former Great Britain, Leeds, and Wigan coach Maurice Bamford.

Bamford, left, who was Bradford Northern assistant coach with Peter Fox, has joined the Keighley side as commercial manager and will play a role with junior coaching.

He is a well-known figure in rugby league and his signing by the Cougars is widely regarded as yet another sign the club is going somewhere.

"Missing out on the chance to coach the side in 1980 is one of the biggest regrets of my career," said Bamford, who is launching his new book Memoirs of a Blood and Thunder Coach this week.

"But the Cougars are a club very close to my heart and I am looking forward to an involvement with them. On and off the field they are really going somewhere and there are exciting times ahead for the people of Keighley."
