Keighley RLFC have again been in negotiations to bring a soccer club to Cougar Park, it has been revealed today.

With the Northern Ford Premiership set to move to summer fixtures, the Cougars are looking to make the most of their facilities through the winter.

"There is little I can say at this stage," said chairman Neil Spencer.

"I can confirm we have been in negotiations to bring a football team to Cougar Park, but any discussions are at a very early stage.

"But these moves are a sign we mean business and that Keighley Cougars is a club moving forward and upwards in the rugby league and financial world's."

Using the pitch during the winter would provide extra revenue for the club and is seen, along with Maurice Bamford's appointment as commercial manager, as a sign the Cougars are moving up.

The club has courted much controversy since narrowly missing out on deserved Super League status, but Mr Spencer seems to be restoring order and building the club again.

Whether the arrival of a soccer club would be purely on a lease basis, or whether they would play as a Keighley team is not yet known.

The Cougars have been linked in the past with Guiseley, but no arrangement was ever reached.
