A satisfactory settlement of the bus controversy at Horsforth was reached in that the Yeadon Transport Company would issue 5s. weekly contract tickets for a maximum of four journeys per day. The Transport Company stated that the number of journeys was purposely limited to four per day in order to prevent abuses.
A reconstruction scheme in the Leeds Road area of Otley was discussed at a Ministry of Health Meeting because it was stated that the area formed one of the most unsightly patches of buildings in the whole of Wharfedale. Six of the houses were empty and dilapidated and another nine were unfit for habitation. The properties were situated in one of the oldest parts of the town and the approach to it was formerly along a narrow country road called Cambridge Lane leading from Gay Lane.
A reduction in the hours for staff employed at Menston Mental Hospital has been proposed. The working week would be reduced from 56 hours (including dinner time) to a 48 hour week and the annual leave would remain at 14 days.
