YARNBURY'S First and Third team fixtures fell foul of the weather, with both pitches being unfit for play.

Selby Seconds 10

Yarnbury Hornets 3

YARNBURY Hornets travelled to Selby with high hopes after their good win at Wheatley Hills but were found lacking against a well-drilled Selby outfit.

Their only points came from the faultless boot of Dave Newby, who converted Yarnbury's only chance of the game.

Selby's large pack and confident backs were always a handful for Yarnbury, who conceded the only try of the game after a long period of Selby pressure.

The Hornets must pick themselves up for Saturday derby match with West Park.

Selby Fourths 12

Yarnbury Fourths 24

YARNBURY Fourths pulled off a notable victory against Selby. Arthur Smith's men fought hard to win with Smith himself, Chris Collinson and Rod Catheral to the fore, along with Yarnbury's two New Zealand boys. This result has set up the Fourths for Saturday's game against West Park Bramhope.

Yarnbury are going to have a busy end to the season, being three games behind in the league programme and also being in the last eight of the Yorkshire Shield, where they will meet Acklam, on March 23, at 3pm.

l The fixtures for Saturday, March 2 (all kick-off 2.15pm) are: First team - West Park (away); Second team - West Park (home); Third team - Burley Firsts (away); Fourth team - Burley (home).
