A meeting arranged for last night by the parent-teachers association so that parents could quiz local authority representatives about educational policy had to be cancelled - because the parents did not show enough interest. After a request for questions to be submitted in writing in advance of the meeting had brought only two questions, the headmaster and PTA chairman of Thorpe Middle School,Idle,decided that it would be better not to go ahead.

Tenants of 30 houses in Tumbling Hill Street, off Thornton Road, Bradford to be pulled down shortly by the Corporation, are expected to be rehoused in housing estates in about six weeks, Mr S. G. Wardley, Bradford City Surveyor, told a reporter today. For years, Tumbling Hill Street has been one of the city's blackest spots. Tenants have complained that their houses were "tumbling down" and "overrun with mice".
