POWERLIFTER Martin Cartman won his fourth consecutive Yorkshire Masters title recently.
Martin was lifting in the 90Kg class at Gateshead Sports Centre against seven of the region's top lifters. He pulled off a massive total lift to win the trophy and retain his title.
He started with sensible weights and gradually put the pressure on his opponents as he finished off with a Back Squat of 245Kg (540lbs), Bench Press 152Kg (336lbs) and a Dead Lift of 260Kg (573lbs). They gave him a winning total of 657Kg (1,500lb).
Martin, 44, has once again qualified for the British Championships for lifters in the 40-50 years age group. He is training hard at 'The Gym' in Devonshire Street, Keighley, and aims to get among the medals this time. He is a member of the Keighley Weightlifting and Powerlifting Club.
