Eoin Jess will be given the chance to silence the boo-boys at Valley Parade tonight when City meets Manchester City.

Nicky Law has recalled the Scot who was the target of abuse from frustrated fans at the last home game.

But Law could have to do without Ashley Ward who has problems with a foot injury.

Neither Ward nor Stuart McCall trained yesterday, although the skipper is expected to shake off a slight knee problem.

Jess was left out totally at Stockport on Tuesday to spare him more criticism. But Law feels he will be up to the challenge tonight.

Law said: "Jess is our top scorer, we've had a couple of blanks so we've got to be looking at bringing him back.

"The stick he got against Sheffield Wednesday was probably as bad as I've heard anywhere in 25 years. I had to take him off.

"You can't have one of your players being subjected to that and then expect him to perform at the level we needed him to.

"But that's done now and finished and you have to get on with it.

"I'm sure Eoin won't buckle. He seems a strong character in the short time I've known him, he's a good trainer, he's no problem and he just gets on with the job.

"He is a seasoned pro, with vast experience both in England and Scotland and probably this doesn't affect him as much as it would a young lad.

"All footballers have it. You go through a period when you're having a lean time and crowds do get on at players. It's not unique and it doesn't just happen at Bradford.

"You just have to battle through it and he will."

Gunnar Halle returns after a month out with a broken rib. The Norwegian played for the reserves at Odsal and goes straight back in the team.

Law said: "A player of his experience and quality has got to be in the frame. He played an hour on Wednesday and looked good and he has trained fine since."

Halle is likely to take over from out-of-form Andy Tod. Simon Grayson, banned for Tuesday's home game against Birmingham, is likely to shuffle across to the middle.

Law appreciates the size of the task against a team with one foot back in the Premiership. Six wins from their remaining ten games will guarantee Manchester City promotion and they will be odds-on to get the first of those at Valley Parade.

Law said: "They've got class throughout the team and are regularly knocking in four goals against teams. For us to try and defend for 90 minutes would be a fatal mistake so we'll give it a real go."
