A special trip down memory lane took place last Wednesday.

About 60 members of Keighley Elderly Initiatives Group met to share their memories and brought along items that reminded them of the past.

The people who had brought in items then gave a short talk about what the items meant to them and the memories that they evoked.

Organiser Val Goater says: "It has been interesting to hear what memories people have, and the things that people brought in triggered different memories for other people too.

"People brought in all sorts of things like wedding dresses from the war time, coins, and things like washing equipment.

"It is the first time we have had a reminiscence day and people seem to have thoroughly enjoyed it."

Members then had a lunch, followed by a talk given by Keighley man Charlie Bhowmick on Keighley past and present.

Members were also able to peruse books about Keighley's past. Mrs Goater adds: "I am pleased with the way it has gone so far and we'll definitely consider doing something like this again."
