Thorpe Edge Residents' Association, Bradford, is to open a fund to finance the building of a community centre on the estate. The move is seen by the association's chairman, Coun. Alan Bagshaw, as a declaration of intent that it is determined to give the estate a focal point vital to its future.

The domestic training centre at Whinburn, Keighley, run by the National Institute of Houseworkers is to close at the end of August, it is understood. The principal of the Keighley Institute, Miss Dorothy M. Findon, said today that all in Yorkshire connected with the institute would regret the closure. Thirty-one girls are taking an eight-month course in domestic training.
