Model railway enthusiasts made tracks to Keighley at the weekend for a club's annual exhibition.

Just under 1,000 people visited Keighley Model Railway Club's exhibition at Victoria Hall during Saturday and Sunday.

Members of the public enjoyed 14 layouts on display, including some of the Keighley club's award-winning favourites.

And although the numbers were down on the previous year, the club still expects to make a profit.

Secretary Mick McNamara said: "The numbers were down by about 200 over the weekend, but that didn't stop it from being a successful event.

"We've had a lot of good comments and not one adverse one from visitors who said how much they enjoyed themselves.

"In the last few years we have attracted modellers rather than toy train enthusiasts, and that continued.

"But we also saw a lot of children this year, who came with dads and granddads, which was surprising but very good to see."

The star of the show was an N gauge layout depicting "Somewhere in England during World War Two", which scooped three trophies and was nominated as best layout by club members and the public.

The club's popular O gauge layouts like Ravensbeck and Runswick Bay, which has won three trophies and will be displayed later this year at the festival of model railways at Alexandra Palace, in London, were also on show.
