For eighty minutes Phoenix and Silsden were locked in stalemate but two late goals gave the high-flying Cobbydale club the points.

Although Silsden had more possession it was Phoenix who created the better chances early in the game. Jimmy Spencer headed wide after Adam Krajnyk had struck the cross bar, and he also ballooned the ball over the bar when presented with a one-on-one opportunity.

It was not a dirty game but there were a total of eight bookings, but they did not deter the excellent attacking football displayed by both teams.

With time running down and Phoenix relatively happy to have kept the title favourites at bay disaster struck. A simple cross was fumbled at the front post by Paul Linyard and Mick Ward was the quickest to react to put the visitors ahead.

With just two minutes to go Martin Crangle was caught bringing the ball out of defence by Jimmy Hedges, who rounded the keeper and squared the ball to Gavin Finn for a simple tap in.

On a very heavy pitch Steeton stormed into the District Cup final with a convincing 4-0 victory over local rivals Cross Hills. Michael Jarvis and Jamie Longley scored two goals each as they revealed their full potential with outstanding performances.

Cross Hills had opportunities but rarely troubled a now settled Steeton defence despite two centre backs being replaced through injuries. But the strength in depth at Steeton meant they had more than capable cover.

Due to their success in cup competitions Steeton have up to five games in hand over some teams in their division but are looking set for promotion.

In Division One Keighley Shamrocks slipped to a 1-0 defeat after holding Tyersal 0-0 at half time.

Keighley Shamrocks Reserves beat Campion 2-1 with goals from Gary Pearce and Alan Dykes while Keighley Phoenix Reserves played out a 2-2 draw with Ovenden with Mark Labbett on target.
