A gunman blasted a shotgun through the front door of a house in the Leeds Road area of Bradford early today.

The shotgun pellets were sprayed through the front door and became embedded in the wall of the back-to-back terrace house in Amberley Street at 4am. No-one was injured.

Detectives say they are baffled by the shooting and are appealing for witnesses.

Sergeant Roy Pownall, of Bradford Central police station, said: "An unknown person went up to the door of the property and blasted a shotgun through the door.

"It went through and the pellets travelled through the interior of the house and embedded themselves in the wall at the back."

The house is home to a mother and her teenage daughter.

At the time of the shooting two Afro-Caribbean men were visiting the house. None of them were hurt in the incident.

Sgt Pownall said: "We have no idea what this was all about. CID will be making follow up enquiries today. We would appeal for any witnesses to contact us at Bradford Central CID on (01274) 376485.
